My entire time back in EverQuest was because of this guy. To be more specific, because of this guy's player. I have no clue what the character's name is, or what server he played on, but what he was wearing, holding, and where he was sitting, were the shared details that got the nostalgia train rolling. It got the itch flaring up again for that world, just from talking about our love for the design of the Wurmslayer.
It soon expanded into discussions about The Estate of Unrest, Kurn's Tower, and the tunnel in the East Commonlands. The pain of a corpse run, a lost level, or accidentally trading an item or dropping it on the ground, never to see it again. It was all discussed with smiles and a fondness, even for the suffering.
This piece, I made for him as a gift, and as a thank you for kickstarting what has ended up being an incredibly rewarding project, for a game that still holds so much valuable information about world building and game design that could be implemented today.
