Although this painting is of three characters, they were all played by the same person. While not a groundbreaking revelation, it was a specific choice for them to return to the home of the barbarian shaman. At first, the commissioner just wanted something with the three of them. However, during what I call the "discovery process," I try to ask questions that might pull something more, or personal, out of the request. This is how we landed on Halas, the starting city for the Barbarians of Norrath, hidden deep within the mountains of the Everfrost Peaks. The question had been simple: what was their favorite zone in the game, in the respect that it gave them the most comfort? Halas. This theme of a return to a starting area, or one that the plalyer spent a considerable amount of time in, would present itself again and again. Also featured in this piece are three "epics," or weapons that require considerable effort, coordination, and travel. To many, they are a mark of accomplishment for the class (rogue, shaman, cleric, etc.). A sort of rite of passage and completion. Others go on to try and achieve best-in-slot status (BIP), but those numbers are even fewer and further between.
